Sedation dentistry
We know that visiting the dentist can be a stressful experience for some. We’re here to let you know that it doesn’t have to be this way.
We go the extra mile to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere at our clinic. But if you’re so nervous about your appointment that you’re at risk of neglecting your dental health, we have several options for sedation that will ensure you get the care you need.
Benefits include:
- Relief from stress, especially for those with a fear of needles.
- Customizable dosage depending on body size.
- Procedures can be done more quickly.
- Freedom from side effects.
To find out if sedation dentistry can help you simply fill out the contact form and we will schedule an appointment for you.
Safety first
Safety is our top priority at BluSky Dental. When we use sedation, we tailor the dose to your needs for best results. We closely monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, heart rhythm and oxygenation levels with our state-of-the-art equipment, depending on the type of sedation administered.
To extend the practice of good safety further, we recommend that patients who are scheduled for some types of sedation bring along a friend or family member to help them when they are ready to leave our dental clinic, as some forms of sedation may make it unsafe for you to drive.
We’d be happy to discuss the options and the best fit for your needs.
The Types of Sedation
Sometimes there are cases where a patient is nervous at the actual administering of the sedation. Rest assured we can help those who feel this way. Check out our list below to learn more about the different types of sedation and how they are used. There are three forms of sedation dentistry.
Nitrous oxide inhalation sedation
Otherwise known as “laughing gas”, we administer this type of sedation through a mask placed over your nose and mouth. Nitrous oxide flows into your mask along with a mix of 100% oxygen— offering a feeling of relaxation and well-being throughout your treatment. All you have to do is breathe.
Oral conscious sedation
This is a simple pill which provides a general sense of relaxation and is perfect for anyone who is afraid of needles.
Intravenous sedation (IV)
For those who aren’t bothered by needles and who are free from certain health conditions, we can use IV sedation. This has the advantage of being instantly effective, and we can adjust the strength of sedation over time if required.
Breaking the cycle of the belief system
The belief that visiting the dentist is always a painful experience is usually formed when we’re children, and may push some to conclude that it is better to avoid dentists altogether.
We are mindful that these beliefs are shared by some people and are here to assure you that a visit to the dentist should be free of anxiety, fear, or pain. Our goal is to provide you with a positive experience with dental care.
