Eligibility Questions
To qualify, you must: be a Canadian resident, have no access to dental insurance, have adjusted family net income under $90,000, and have filed your tax return. See full eligibility details →
If you have any access to dental insurance—even partial coverage—you generally do not qualify for CDCP. This includes coverage you could enroll in but chose not to.
Yes. Eligibility is based on adjusted family net income, which includes income from your spouse or common-law partner.
Yes. Children under 18 in qualifying families became eligible in 2024. A parent or guardian applies on their behalf.
Once you reach a qualifying age and meet other requirements, you can apply. Check the current rollout phase schedule.
You may qualify if you meet all requirements. Some provincial programs may affect eligibility—check your specific situation.
Coverage Questions
Covered services include:
Preventive: Exams, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride
Basic: Fillings, extractions, root canals
Major: Crowns, bridges, dentures
Other: Periodontal treatment, some oral surgery
Generally not covered: Cosmetic procedures (whitening, veneers), orthodontics (braces, Invisalign), implants (in most cases), and procedures deemed not medically necessary.
Coverage depends on your income and is based on the CDCP fee guide:
Under $70,000: CDCP pays 100%, 0% co-pay
$70,000–$79,999: CDCP pays 60%, 40% co-pay
$80,000–$89,999: CDCP pays 40%, 60% co-pay
Note: If our fees exceed the CDCP fee guide, you may have additional out-of-pocket costs. We'll provide a clear estimate before treatment.
Coverage limits may apply to certain services. Ask your provider about specific limits for the treatment you need.
Yes. Emergency dental care including extractions, treatment for infections, and pain relief are covered services.

Online applications are processed fastest. Allow several weeks for processing and card delivery. Times vary based on volume.
After approval, your CDCP member card is mailed to you. Keep your address current with Service Canada.
No. You must wait until your phase opens for enrollment. Check canada.ca/dental for current rollout status.
You'll receive a letter explaining the reason. Common denials include: income over $90,000, access to other dental coverage, or missing tax return. You may reapply if your situation changes.
Using CDCP Questions
Yes. CDCP only works at participating providers. BluSky Dental participates at all three locations!
Bring your CDCP member card and government-issued ID. We'll verify your coverage and bill CDCP directly.
Your co-pay depends on your income level (based on the CDCP fee guide):
Under $70,000: No co-pay on the fee guide amount
$70,000–$79,999: 40% co-pay on the fee guide amount
$80,000–$89,999: 60% co-pay on the fee guide amount

General Questions
No. CDCP is a federal program, separate from provincial/territorial programs. You cannot have both (except in certain circumstances).
If you have provincial dental coverage, you likely don't qualify for CDCP. The programs don't overlap.
Eligibility is reassessed annually based on your tax return. Income increases above $90,000 may end eligibility; decreases may make you newly eligible.
Generally no. CDCP is for those without dental insurance access.
